The project

Modailty started as consultants. firstly using traditional methods — we built our surveys according to best practices, we looked for publicly available reports, we benchmarked like other industries.
Newsflash! It didn’t work. Because intimate data is, well, intimate, it has a way of hiding in bedrooms and incognito-mode-Google searches.
We realized that relying on what exists is futile.

SO? We’re building new methods. New frameworks. New case studies. We’re becoming the resource we wish we had.

Modality Labs is our methods lab. We are experimenting with new tools and data collection mechanisms to ethically unearth our most sensitive truths.

The research

1st off/ we collected information on 3700+ products that exist in the sex space
2nd/ we started gathering company profiles, sex educators, etc.
You know, the brands driving SexTechOngoing/ *we are always interviewing, surveying, and analyzing – some old fashion methods just work.

Now/ We’re productizing the database into tools.

The data

We believe in data privacy, data ownership, and ethical data collection.
As we build the tools, these are the principles we’re holding in mind.
We are recruiting data engineers, data scientists, and all around data bad-asses. Is this you? Hit us up.

The tools

From micro to macro, product to people, we want to understand the global implications of sexual purchase and usage behavior.

Voyeur: The Industry EngineThe information powering our tooling, Voyeur is our industry database. We look at everything from the news to who’s investing in the space. Hell, we even track sex parties. If it’s sexy, we want to know about it.

Plug: The Pleasure AgentIn a world of interchangeable vibrators and fleshlights, how do people know what’s the right fit for them? Our goal: to build an end-to-end-encrypted pleasure agent with an opt-in research function.

The Sexual Openness IndexMultinationalism is in our DNA. Our world is diverse and we want to understand how sexuality impacts the global landscape. I mean, they have a Happiness Index, why not a pleasure index?
